FIM counsels and supports about 1000 migrants a year. In addition to German the consultants of FIM speak nine other languages. Thus, they can support women in crisis in their mother tongue (native language) and offer them a culture-specifical consultation.
Since the foundation of FIM in 1980 our focus has been on the work against human trafficking. From 1999 onwards, FIM has been the central coordination centre of Hessian work against human trafficking.
Low-threshold educational programs are important parts of promoting integration. The programs at FIM focus on migrant women who have difficulties in accessing qualification programs because of their low educational background or difficult personal or family situation.
Many children are faced with huge challenges when they arrive in Germany. FIM’s Mentoring Project helps them to integrate, opens opportunities and supports them in discovering and developing their talents.
FIM responded to the recent developments in the prostitution by revaluating the existing pro-active social-work in the red light district. On a regular basis the streetworkers of FIM do consultations in the brothels around the area of the main-station and designated streets where prostitution is allowed.
In addition to counselling of women in difficult living-conditions, FIM also advocates the improvement of their social situation and the consolidation of their rights publicly and politcally.
